Outline

This course has been developed for all staff who may have the requirement to move and handle a range of objects in their role. The purpose of the course is to ensure that attendees have the knowledge and skills to safely and competently move and handle without incurring injury. This course will ensure that the responsibilities of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations are met.

Description

Objectives for the session include:
  • To be able to explain what is meant by the term ‘moving and handling’
  • To identify potential injuries through poor practice
  • State the principles for controlling manual handling risks
  • To investigate the importance of conducting manual handling risk assessments and what they include
  • To examine the main provisions of the manual handling operations regulations

This is a practical session and you must be physically able to participate and wear sensible clothing and footwear
